Bay City Rollers star McKeown to deny role in 'cocaine plot'

THE former lead singer of the Bay City Rollers is to deny an allegation that he conspired to supply cocaine, a court heard.

Les McKeown spoke only to confirm his personal details during a preliminary hearing at Chelmsford Crown Court, Essex, yesterday. But, Lucy Luttman, prosecuting, told the court: "There has been an indication of not guilty in this case."

McKeown, 49, of Goulton Road, Hackney, east London, is charged with conspiring with four other people to supply 495 grams of the Class A drug.

Judge Michael Kay adjourned the hearing until 10 October and remanded McKeown on bail.

The Bay City Rollers formed in Edinburgh in 1971 and recorded hits including Bye, Bye Baby and Give A Little Love. The group broke up in 1978.
