Pick of the club nights

The task of wrapping up the Edinburgh Festival clubbing season has been handed to fresh-faced new kid on the block Laura Jones.

This Saturday sees Jones headlining house night Rendezvous at The Green Room.

She’s a lady destined for greatness after being signed to two of the coolest and most influential house labels - Visionquest and Leftroom Records. These two imprints have been dominating the house charts over the last year and sport the hottest new producers around.

Combining different genres past and present, a futuristic house sound is born. Be it elements of 80s pop, dubby house or vintage techno, they produce electronic music with soul, toppling the charts in the process.

There’s certainly a whole lot to get excited about here with the appearance of Jones - and not just because of her mesmerizingly sultry looks. She’s all about the music, too, happy to be playing good tunes and having as much fun as the next person.

As a child, the Leeds-based DJ and producer was a classically-trained pianist and singer, managing to fit in cello and clarinet at the same time. It gave her the perfect grounding to form her own captivating sound.

“I love hearing DJs who play nothing but music I’ve never heard before, but that’s because I’m a music geek,” she says. “Generally speaking, people love familiarity, so I’ll be making sure I’ve got some of that thrown in for good measure.”

So if you’re looking for a place to celebrate the end of the Festival, then this is it - one smoking-hot DJ, a 5am license, and the Rendezvous residents thrown in. You simply can’t go wrong - enjoy.
