BA's holiday vow as more flights axed
BRITISH Airways had to cancel six more flights today but promised to cope with the Bank Holiday rush over the weekend.
The airline, which has suffered with plane technical difficulties and staff shortages all week, scrapped three return domestic flights from Heathrow Airport.
They were to Aberdeen, Glasgow and Manchester, and affected passengers were being put on later flights to these destinations.
"It’s a busy weekend for us but we expect things to run smoothly," said a BA spokeswoman today.
The airline had to cancel 50 flights on Monday because of the technical and staff problems, with thousands of passengers having their travel plans severely disrupted.
A further 31 flights were axed on Tuesday, 14 on Wednesday and eight yesterday.
Meanwhile, travellers were facing disruption on the railways with some 160 workers on the cross-channel Eurostar service planning a 24-hour strike tomorrow to press for higher wages. The company has said its services may not be affected.
