Academics launch largest poverty study

THE "largest-ever" research project into poverty and social exclusion has been launched.

Academics hope to find solutions to tackle the problems of poverty and deprivation across the UK. The work, partly carried out at Glasgow and Heriot-Watt universities, has a "major focus" on Scotland. The team wants to find out if people in Scotland are worse off than their southern counterparts.
