50% say debt deal is worth it

MORE than half of Britons would consider taking out an Individual Voluntary Arrangement if they were in serious debt, a poll showed today.

Four out of ten said they would only consider an IVA as a last resort, but 11 per cent said they thought the arrangements were perfectly acceptable, according to moneysupermarket. com.

An IVA is when lenders agree to freeze interest payments on debts if a set amount is repaid each month.
