Two men arrested over casino shooting

TWO men will appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court today in connection with a shooting outside a casino over three weeks ago.

Last night, police said a 38-year-old and a 20-year-old had been arrested.

A 62-year-old man suffered head injuries during the incident outside the Gala Maybury Casino in Maybury Road, Edinburgh, at around 11:50pm on 3 June.

The victim, who had been standing talking to friends, escaped with minor injuries as a suspect fled on foot, pursued by casino regulars.

The injured man was taken to the Western General Hospital, where he was treated under police guard.

During the investigation police used sniffer dogs to search the area and studied CCTV footage from the casino and a petrol station across the street.

Investigators spoke to everyone in the casino that evening.

Part of the investigation involved studying the logged visits of everyone using the casino.

Police said the response from the public providing possible information had been "excellent".
