THE directors of LloydsTSB must think Christmas has come early (your report, 30 October). The original gameplan was to merge the Scottish business under the name of Bank of Scotland. This would mean office closures, piecemeal sales of premises, staff redundancies, integration of IT and other systems, all taking time and money and causing acrimony and dissatisfaction to employees and customers. Now, EU brainboxes have galloped to the rescue and as a "punishment" are forcing Lloyds
