Trust children on books
J K Rowling, Terry Pratchett, Philip Pullman et al are right to oppose "age banding" for children's books (your report, 3 July). By and large, children will read whatever they find interesting, and what is wrong with that? If children don't like or understand material, they won't read it. We should trust them. After all, they have been able to buy Lady Chatterley's Lover and Fanny Hill for at least 50 years.
