Trump rules out bid for Nicklaus complex
DONALD Trump has ruled out a bid to take over Jack Nicklaus's troubled £40 million golf development – because the project is not big enough.
Last month, Mr Trump's development director, George Sorial, said he hoped the team would be able to cash in on the global credit crunch.
It is estimated the Trump Organisation could save up to 300 million on the golf resort at Menie Estate by securing contracts on falling material prices. Mr Sorial said this would save cash to help rescue collapsed building projects worldwide.
But yesterday the Trump Organisation ruled out taking over the ambitious Jack Nicklaus project, which is under threat because its backer, FM Developments, has gone into administration.
Mr Sorial said the Trump Organisation was impressed with the plans for Ury Estate, saying: "It's a great project that we hope gets done, but it's too small for us. Our focus remains on Menie."
