Trio jailed for 21 years over armed raid on shop
THREE armed robbers were jailed for a total of 21 years for a raid that left a shop worker traumatised.
At the High Court in Glasgow yesterday, Kevin Waterston, 20, Philip Christie, 26, and Barry Jackson, 24, were each jailed for seven years.
Judge Lord Malcolm said that the three men subjected Stewart Tyler to a "prolonged and terrifying ordeal" when they robbed his workplace.
"This was a premeditated attack involving masks and knives and a considerable level of violence and intimidation," the judge added.
Waterston, of Saughton Prison, Edinburgh, and Christie, of Perth Prison, admitted threatening to repeatedly stab Mr Tyler and robbing him of approximately 2,000 in cash, two laptop computers, a mobile telephone and a wallet containing 30, a driving licence, a business card, a bank card and papers at 3000RPM in Westport, Dundee, on 12 December last year.
Jackson, of Perth Prison was convicted of the same offence after trial. Defence counsel for all three said they regretted their actions.
