Tributes pour in after death of SNP stalwart
TRIBUTES were paid yesterday to an SNP councillor who died suddenly over the weekend.
John Law, the Strathallan ward representative on Perth and Kinross Council, was described as a "fantastic" councillor.
Mr Law, thought to be in his late fifties or early sixties, died on Saturday. SNP colleagues yesterday paid tribute to a "stalwart" of the party.
Environment minister Roseanna Cunningham, the MSP for Perth, said: "I am in shock at hearing this very sad news. I have known John personally for years, and I will miss him deeply. He was my first election agent in 1992 and instrumental in every election in the area.
"He was a fantastic councillor and will be sorely missed by everyone in the party, in the council and in his ward."
She added: "My thoughts are with his wife Janet, his daughter Anna and his family."
Pete Wishart, MP for Perth and North Perthshire, said: "John was a stalwart of the party both in Perthshire and nationally. Loved by all, we are devastated and shocked by this tremendous loss. Our hearts go out to his family."
Close friend Annabelle Ewing said the lifelong SNP member was known and loved throughout the party. She added: "He took great pride in his country and great pride in representing the people of Strathallan."
