Tributes for tragic driver
TRIBUTES were yesterday paid to a haulage company employee who died on Wednesday when he was crushed by a lorry in an accident at an Aberdeen industrial estate.
Alfie Langmead, 65, of Inverbervie, Aberdeenshire, died when he was trapped between the cab of a lorry and a fence at the Nortruck Services base in Minto Avenue in the city's Altens industrial estate. He had worked as a van driver and labourer at the firm for about 15 years.
Gordon Taylor, the company's general manager, said: "He was a father figure among the whole team and everyone is deeply saddened. Our heartfelt condolences are with his widow and his family."
A Grampian Police spokeswoman said: "A report will be submitted to the procurator- fiscal."
