Trauma of girl, 16, raped in city centre
A GIRL of 16 has been left "utterly traumatised" after she was dragged into a lane and raped.
She was walking along Renfield Street, in Glasgow, when she was grabbed by a man of Asian appearance and forced into Bath Lane at about 1am yesterday.
Detective Inspector Fil Capaldi said: "The young woman has understandably been left utterly traumatised by this horrific incident.
"We will use every investigative tool at our disposal to find the person responsible. These incidents are extremely rare and I would like to reassure the public, particularly women, that we will maintain high-profile patrols within the city-centre area."
Police are keen to speak to any witnesses and to two men who went to the girl's aid.
A 46-year-old woman was raped as she walked home after getting out of a taxi in Glasgow's Knightswood area last Sunday.
