Woman hurt in road accident
A WOMAN has been taken to hospital after the car she was driving was in collision with a lorry and was thrown into an embankment.
Emergency services were called to the crash on a stretch of road on the A706 near Longridge, West Lothian, just before 5pm yesterday. The woman, 20, was trapped in her Renault Clio, which had collided with a large goods vehicle.
Lothian and Borders Fire and Rescue Service had to stabilise the car, which had landed in an embankment at the side of the road, before they could cut away the vehicle’s roof, door and seats to free the woman from the wreck.
She was then taken by ambulance to Wishaw General Hospital in Lanarkshire, where she was treated for multiple injuries.
