A WOMAN has been killed after being struck by a train in Aberdeenshire.

The tragedy happened just before 9am on the tracks at Kintore, between Dyce and Inverurie stations.

A British Transport Police spokesman said: “BTP officers were called to the line in Kintore at 8.49am, following a report that a female had been struck and killed by a train.

“There would appear to be no suspicious circumstances surrounding her death and a full report will be submitted to the local procurator fiscal.”

Train services on the Aberdeen-Inverness line were affected as investigations were carried out.
