TWO girls and a man have been taken to hospital after being struck by a car in a hit-and-run.

A black Vauxhall Astra mounted the pavement and hit the group in Sandbank Street in the Maryhill area of Glasgow at around 7.40pm yesterday, police said.

The driver failed to stop and the car was later found abandoned in a nearby street.

Both girls were being treated at the Royal Hospital for Sick Children at Yorkhill, while the 36-year-old man was taken to the city’s Western Infirmary.

Police are appealing for any witnesses to contact them.
