Shake-up on Shore roads

Transport chiefs are to press ahead with a traffic shake-up at the Shore in Leith.

A bus contraflow lane is to be introduced between Sandford Place and Bernard Street in order to prohibit all vehicles apart from buses and emergency vehicles from travelling north.

Waiting and loading restrictions will also be introduced at the Shore in order to ensure that there is always a suitable width of road throughout the area.

A £560,000 revamp of the Shore will see motorists banned from travelling north.

Councillors have been asked to approve a statutory procedure to make the necessary traffic regulation orders to allow for the introduction of the bus contraflow and waiting and loading restrictions that are necessary.
