Budget carrier Ryanair has revealed record monthly figures for March despite three days of “unjustified” strikes by French air traffic controllers.

Passenger numbers at the Irish business saw a year-on-year rise of 28 per cent to reach 8.5 million while its planes were 94 per cent full on average, up from 90 per cent in March 2015. Chief marketing officer Kenny Jacobs attributed the improved numbers to its “lower fares, stronger forward bookings” and initiatives aimed at improving the customer experience.
