Road to reopen after landslide
A LIFELINE Highland road is expected to partly reopen later this month.
The A980 Lochcarron to Kyle and Plockton Road in Wester Ross was closed by a landslide on 22 December, forcing the council to organise two ferries to take vehicles and passengers between North and South Strome.
A contractor has now been appointed to make safe the hillside next to Stromeferry with the road set to reopen to traffic during the day from 17 February. The works should be completed by 17 March.
Councillor John Laing, chairman of the transport committee, said: “Our priority is to get vehicles back on the road as soon as possible and so we are looking at a partial reopening.”
