COMMUTERS could face travel disruption this afternoon after a vehicle collided with a bridge near the BT Murrayfield Stadium at around 12,15pm.

The collision forced railway chiefs to shut the line while they inspected the structure.

The driver is believed to have driven off following the incident without reporting it.

Network Rail bosses found no evidence of damage to the bridge, and engineers were able to reopen the line shortly after.

The brief closure caused some delays to rail timetables, but Network Rail do not believe the disruption will be ‘significant’, adding that the rush-hour timetable should not be affected.
