Police job for ex-tram boss

THE man drafted in last year to take charge of Edinburgh’s tram project was today due to be named as the first chairman of the new Scottish Police
Authority.

Vic Emery, 68, who was made chairman of the council trams company TIE shortly before it was scrapped, will take the helm of the new body overseeing Scotland’s single police force and holding the chief constable to account.

The new force comes into existence from April next year.

Interviews for the post of chief constable are due to take place within the next month.
