ONE person has died following a two vehicle collision on the Beach Esplanade in Aberdeen.

The collision, in which two women and a man were reported to have been injured, completely closed the road near Aberdeen city centre in the early afternoon.

A spokeswoman for the Scottish Ambulance Service said that two females and a male had been taken by ambulance to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary after emergency services, including units from Grampian Fire and Rescue Service, were called to the scene.

A spokesman for Grampian Police later announced: “Grampian Police can confirm that one person has died following a two-vehicle road traffic collision on the Beach Esplanade. The road will remain closed between the Shell garage and Beach Ballroom while collision investigation is ongoing. This is expected to take some time.”

He added: “Drivers are urged to find alternative routes of transport and avoid the area if at all possible.”
