Motherwell manager Stuart McCall has been banned from driving for six months after being caught speeding.
The 49-year-old, who already had existing points of his licence, was clocked speeding at 91 miles an hour on the M74 at Abington
McCall failed to persuade Lanark Justice of the Peace Court to let him keep his licence because of ‘exceptional hardship’.
The former Scotland star told his solicitor, Kevin McCarron, he relied on his licence to drive to York to visit his father who is 89 and suffers from dementia.
Mr McCarron said McCall’s dad - a former professional footballer himself - would suffer from not seeing him.
He told Justice John Robertson: “They talk about football and there’s no doubt the visits benefit my client’s dad. They keep him going.”
However, the justice rejected the plea for leniency and also fined McCall £170.
