In the video, a camera worn by the cyclist captures a van driving alongside him in before edging closer to the pavement, forcing the cyclist to fall off his bike.

The van driver, a white male wearing a hi-viz jacket, is then seen arguing with the cyclist in an expletive-ridden rant before he grabs the victim and then appears to throw a punch at him.

Posting from their official Essex Police account, the force said: “We’re aware of a You Tube video of a cyclist being assaulted and would advise the victim to contact police on 101 so it can be investigated.”

The incident is believed to have taken place in Hornchurch.
