An pensioner has died in hospital more than a week after he was involved in a car crash in Aberdeenshire.

Peter Wales, 83, was seriously injured in the two-car crash on the A97 Huntly to Alford road in Aberdeenshire on Thursday December 12.

He was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary but died on Friday, police said.

The family of Mr Wales, from Rhynie, have been informed and a report is to be sent to the procurator fiscal.

A 31-year-old woman who was driving the other car involved in the crash sustained only slight injuries and has since been released from hospital.
