A MAN has died after being struck by a car in the early hours.

The 47-year-old was hit on the A198 Gullane to North Berwick route in East Lothian and pronounced dead at the scene.

Police want to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision at about 12.10am.

It is understood the driver of the Ford Focus was not injured.

Inspector Richard Latto said: “Tragically, this collision resulted in the pedestrian sustaining fatal injuries and we are currently trying to establish the full circumstances surrounding this incident.

“I would ask any motorists who were on the A198 in the early hours of Monday morning and who witnessed the collision, or have any information relevant to this investigation, to contact police immediately.”
