Jet propelled boost for Aberdeen

ABERDEEN airport experienced its busiest October for five years, boosted by travellers jetting off during the school holidays.

The airport handled 316,666 passengers last month, an increase of 11.3 per cent compared with the same period last year.

During the school break, 12 October saw one of the busiest days in the airport’s history. The rise meant the airport saw its busiest October for five years and the second busiest on record.

Meanwhile, Glasgow Airport saw almost 700,000 passengers travelling through the terminal, up 4.6 per cent on last October’s figure.

Management there said the school holiday week combined with new domestic routes ensured it was a busy month while Celtic’s away Champions League fixture against Barcelona also boosted outbound traffic numbers.

However, Edinburgh airport experienced a decline in numbers. Some 844,000 people used the airport in October, a drop of 2.8 per cent.
