A MAN has been detained by police in connection with the death of Alexander Glassford, 59, who was today named as the victim of a stabbing on a bus in Glasgow.

Glassford, of the Knightswood area, was knifed to death as he travelled on a bus in the Yoker area of Glasgow yesterday afternoon

He died shortly after being taken to the city’s Western Infirmary.

The incident happened at about 4.45pm when the bus was at Yoker Ferry Road.

Police Scotland said a 46-year-old man is being detained in police custody in connection with the death.

The move followed an operation in Newshot Court, Clydebank, West Dunbartonshire, this morning, which is understood to have involved firearms officers.

Police are still carrying out enquiries into the incident and have appealed for information.
