GLASGOW airport has beaten rivals Edinburgh airport - Scotland’s busiest - in a poll of the UK’s favourites announced by flight comparison website Skyscanner showed today.
However, both were beaten by six English airports, topped by Manchester, which was seen as having the best customer service, shops, bars and restaurants.
Glasgow was placed seventh in the survey of 1,600 passengers, one place ahead of Edinburgh.
Edinburgh-based Skyscanner said Glasgow was liked for its “short queues and speedy security process” while Edinburgh’s “easy access” was praised.
Glasgow was named as airport of the year in 2012’s Scottish Transport Awards, while Edinburgh won the ACI Europe best European airport award in the 5-10 million passenger category in 2011 and 2012.
They were also beaten in the poll by Gatwick, Newcastle, Birmingham, Heathrow and Liverpool.
Aberdeen was in bottom - 15th - spot, with passengers criticising its facilities including the baggage reclaim area, which they said needed upgrading.
