A FEMALE motorcyclist has been critically injured in a collision with a car on the outskirts of Dundee.

The accident happened shortly after 4pm yesterday on the B954 Meigle to Dundee road, near its junction with Auchterhouse, and involved an MZ motorcycle and a silver Ford Focus.

A spokesman for the Tayside Division of Police Scotland said: “A trauma unit from Ninewells attended and the 35 year-old female motorcyclist was conveyed to Ninewells hospital Dundee by ambulance, assisted by a police escort, where she is assessed as having head, pelvic and lower limb injuries. Her injuries are described as critical.

“The 66-year-old male driver of the Ford Focus and a 74-year-old male passenger were not injured.”

The road was closed for almost five hours to allow crash investigation enquiries to be carried at the scene. The force spokesman said: “Police officers involved in the investigation are keen to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the incident.”
