THE family of a 32 year-old woman, who died after her car veered off a rural road and crashed into a tree in Aberdeenshire, have paid tribute to the devoted mother of two children.

Mary Gillespie, from New Deer, was airlifted to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary on Wednesday night but later died in hospital following the accident on he A981 New Deer to Maud road.

Her devastated family today released a statement through Police Scotland. A family spokesman said: “As a family we are saddened and shocked by the sudden loss of Mary, who was a much loved member of the family and was a devoted mum to her two children Conner and Leah.”

The statement continued: “After living in Aberdeen, Mary moved back home to New Deer, to give her children a better childhood, as she lived for her two children and worked to make sure they were always happy. We now have to begin the incredibly difficult task of trying to come to terms with the loss of Mary, who will be hugely missed and we would appreciate privacy while we mourn.”
