Edinburgh trains disrupted by track ‘tresspasser’

TRAIN services between Waverley and Haymarket have been disrupted by a suspected trespasser on the track.

• 35-year-old currently in police custory after arrest at 3.54pm

A man was reported to be travelling on foot through a tunnel between the stations at 3:54pm today, and was apprehended by British Transport Police around 25 minutes later.

The 35-year-old, from Edinburgh, was arrested and is currently in police custody.

Services between the two stations were disrupted while he remained in the tunnel.

A British Transport Police spokesperson said: “It looks like the guy was wandering down the track. It’s pretty busy down there.

“We have no idea why he was down there.”
