DRIVERS are facing a series of overnight closures of the Tay road bridge to pave the way for routine maintenance work and checks on the carriageway, due to begin tomorrow.

The closures, due to last from 1am to 4am, are scheduled for Tuesday, Thursday and Friday of this week and Monday, Thursday and Friday of next week.

A spokesman for the Tay Road Bridge Joint Board said: “Pot hole repairs and drain clearance will be carried out as well as taking cores from the asphalt and the concrete deck surface. In addition to this, resurfacing at the junction of the bridge and the roundabout at the Fife end of the bridge will be carried out in conjunction with works planned by BEAR Scotland.

“The Tay Road Bridge Joint Board would like to apologise for any inconvenience the closures may cause.”
