Driver held after school coach crash

The driver of a coach full of schoolchildren which was involved in a three-vehicle crash has been arrested.

The 50-seater coach was carrying 40 senior pupils and several teachers from Bannerman High School in Baillieston, Glasgow, who were returning from a trip to Alton Towers.

Some of the passengers were checked by paramedics, but no-one was seriously hurt.

The crash happened shortly before 8pm yesterday at a roundabout on the A500 near Audley in Stoke-on-Trent. A black Renault Clio and a black Jeep Cherokee were also in the crash.

The 24-year-old woman driving the Clio who was taken to hospital with minor injuries has since been discharged.
