A car driver has died after a crash with a lorry.

The man died today after the crash on the A9 near the Carrbridge junction in the Highlands yesterday at 7.15pm, police have said.

He was behind the wheel of a Nissan Almera when it was in a crash with a Scania HGV.

Hydraulic cutting equipment was used to free the man from the car, a spokeswoman from the fire service said.

A spokeswoman for the ambulance service said a man had been taken to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness.

Three crews and one special appliance from the fire service attended the scene along with police and the ambulance service.
