Rail passengers faced a series of delays between Kilmarnock and Glasgow Central with a number of cancellations on morning services.
Rail passengers in Kilmarnock faced delays after the 5.22am, 6.20am, 6.52am, 7.20am and 7.55am trains to Glasgow Central were all cancelled.
According to Scotrail, overrunning engineering works were responsible for the delays with trains being unable to operate between Kilmarnock and Glasgow until at least 8am.
Scotrail also warned that delays could be faced throughout the day with replacement bus services put in place.
There were also reports that numerous ticket machines in Glasgow Queen Street were not working leading to massive queues at the station and further disruption.
Abellio, who operate Scotrail, have been hit with £1.5 million fines for poor service since taking over the contract, with a petition calling for the Dutch firm to be stripped of the tender attracting 20,000 signatures.
