Bridge spill causes delay

DRIVERS have faced long delays after a hydraulic fluid spill covered almost the full length of a lane on the Forth Road Bridge.

The spill stretched for almost 1.5 miles, with specialist road cleaning equipment used to make the carriageway safe and to prevent damage to the surfacing.

Skid tests were carried out and engineers assessed the condition of the road before the lane was reopened. The spill from a lorry took place at about 1.40pm yesterday, reducing the northbound carriageway to one lane for around six hours.
