A BRIDE celebrated her wedding just hours after a miracle escape when her horse-drawn carriage was mangled in a collision with a car.
Donna Pennycuik, 29, was taken to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary earlier today. Her father, Lawrence Pennycuik, 45, was also slightly injured.
He and his daughter were on their way to Mabie House Hotel in Dumfries, where he was to give her away at her wedding, when the accident happened.
They were able to get out of the wreckage and help the carriage driver, Simon Millar, 45, who was seriously injured in the collision.
Millar’s daughter Hannah, 18, who was accompanying him on top, was also slightly injured. Two horses were treated for minor injuries by a vet.
After being treated for bruising and shock, Donna and her father were able to
go to the hotel, where the wedding went ahead.
Millar was said to be stable earlier tonight after undergoing emergency treatment.
