A MAN has been injured in a “frightening” hit-and-run incident in a city centre.
The 20-year-old victim was struck by a silver car in Edinburgh at around 4am yesterday morning.
He was crossing the road at South Bridge, near the junction with High Street, at the time.
Police Scotland said the car, believed to have been a Peugeot, failed to stop and drove off instead towards North Bridge.
Officers are appealing for witnesses to the incident and said the car will now be missing a wing mirror.
The man received minor injuries in the incident.
Police Constable Vicky Henretty, of Gayfield police station, said: “This was a frightening experience for the victim, made worse by the fact the driver of the car failed to stop.
“I am trying to find any witnesses who may have seen the registration number of the car, and urge him to come forward.”
Police said anyone with information should contact them on 101, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
