Airlines failing to address nut allergy
An allergy specialist has warned that airlines are putting lives at risk by failing to cater for the needs of passengers with nut allergies.
Dr Jane Lucas, a specialist at Southampton General Hospital, said flights were a particular danger to sufferers due to inconsistent information provided by airlines.
She spoke out following a study in the journal Clinical and Translational Allergy, which looked at the experiences of 32 patients with a nut or peanut allergy.
One air passenger was given a walnut salad even after informing staff of the allergy.
