Aberdeen bus drivers agree pay deal

ABERDEEN’S bus drivers have called off a strike which threatened festive disruption.

Members of the Unite union at First Aberdeen voted to accept a pay offer, cancelling industrial action and ensuring bus services will operate as usual.

Duncan Cameron, director and general manager of First Aberdeen, said: “I’m delighted customers will be spared the inconvenience of industrial action. Talks were very productive with both parties being prepared to move their position. We put on the table a good offer of ‘new money’, not linked to working practices or terms and conditions. In return the union offered concessions which will allow us to better deal with future challenges.”
