TWO lorries have been blown over by high winds in East Lothian as Scotland braces itself for weather chaos

The incident happened on the Dunbar and Haddington road on Tuesday morning and led to a blockage on the A1.

One of the vehicles was blown over onto the central reservation, while the other blocked the outside northbound lane.

Police were alerted to the accident on the bridge over the River Tyne at 8.20am.

The A1 has since been closed both ways due to the overturned HGV’s.

It is not known if anyone was injured in the incident.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “Two HGVs have blown over on the A1 northbound between Haddington and Dunbar, blocking lane two.

“We’ve also been advised that there is debris on southbound carriageway. Motorists are advised to exercise extreme caution.”

Scotland is set to see the remnants of Storm Jonas which has brought the states of New York, Washington DC and Baltimore to a standstill over the weekend. Britain will be lashed by strong winds and torrential downpours, according to forecasts.
