Tram defence
LESLEY Riddoch (Opinion, 23 November) repeats that old canard that trams are for those too posh to use a bus. They are, on the contrary, a fast, reliable mass transport system fit for a growing city.
The scheme under development will reach some of the major traffic centres of the city centre and the periphery, helping to integrate them into the city much more effectively than the existing high-density bus routes. There are, of course, other traffic centres not included. They are for future schemes.
