Tourism chief hails new Finnish air route
TOURISM leaders today welcomed news of a new air link between Edinburgh and Finland.
The airline Blue 1 has announced it will run two flights a day to Helsinki from next April.
It will become the 25th destination to be added at Edinburgh Airport this year and the 125th route from Edinburgh.
Sinead Feltoe, VisitScotland's regional director, said: "We are delighted to hear of the launch of the new Helsinki flight into Edinburgh. Finnish consumers continue to regard holidays as a key priority and tourism spend is high, so this is very much a welcome development.
"We continue to promote Edinburgh as a key component in local, national and international campaigns, with additional tourism revenue from last year's campaigns resulting in 50m for the local economy."
