Top firms upbeat as Legal Awards deadline approaches

SCOTLAND'S top law firms have just three weeks to finalise their nominations for the nation's annual celebration of legal talent at the Scott +Co Scottish Legal Awards 2010.

The judging panel, which will be drawn from the legal, political and business worlds, will gather in December to examine the entries in 14 diverse categories that will reveal the best legal performers in Scotland during the last year.

Joy Glass, partner at sponsors Scott + Co, said she had heard some "very encouraging" noises from firms ahead of the nominations closing.

"2010 will be an opportunity for many businesses and firms to turn over a new leaf," she said. "We know that many have restructured and inevitably this means that next year will give firms a chance to emerge from the downturn in a positive and encouraging way."

&#149 Nominations close on 2 December. Nomination packs and details of entry criteria can be downloaded from the website: www.thelegalawards.com
