Tips campaign picks up the backing of trade union

A CAMPAIGN to ensure workers receive all of the tips and gratuities left for them by customers has won the backing of Trade union Unite and also Edinburgh University Students' Association.

A loophole in the Government's minimum wage legislation allows employers to pay less than the minimum wage and make up the difference with tips.

Tory councillor Jason Rust, who is backing the campaign locally, said: "I am delighted at the support to help bring about this overdue change in the law."
