Theatre and cabaret shows win Festival Fringe Prize
THEATRE productions about a woman trafficked to Edinburgh for sex and an exotic cabaret show have won the Edinburgh International Festival Fringe Prize.
Roadkill and Meow Meow both scooped the prize, which is awarded every year to the most innovative artists appearing at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
Festival Director Jonathan Mills said: "The incredible range of works presented during the summer festivals in Edinburgh makes it the world's greatest showcase of new and emerging talent.
"The Edinburgh International Festival Fringe Prize 2010 is a fantastic opportunity for artists and the festivals to further develop and share in the rich rewards of the amazing melting pot that is Edinburgh and its festivals.
Sally Hobson, head of programme development at the Edinburgh International Festival, said: "From a diverse and fascinating range of productions, our judging panel chose Meow Meow and Roadkill for their potential.
"The panel acknowledged that both winners have unique qualities that could benefit from the award process and look forward to seeing their Behind the Scenes presentations in 2011."
