The week in cartoons

It was a seismic week in Scottish football while the Scottish independence debate also took a new twist.

The week began with the news that David Cameron would not be negotiating directly with Alex Salmond over the independence question and instead insisted that the First Minister would have to deal directly with Scottish Secretary Michael Moore.

Craig Whyte announced that Rangers, founded in 1874, would be signalling its intent to go into administration following months of speculation.

The club formally appointed its own administrators on Wednesday following a court battle with HMRC.

Prime Minister David Cameron made an impassioned plea to save the union and made a formal pledge to give more powers to the Scottish Parliament while on a whistle-stop tour of the east of Scotland.

On Friday, the Rangers administration saga took a new twist with the news that several parties were interested in taking over the troubled Glasgow club. Sheffield Wednesday owner Milan Manderic confirmed, however, that he had no interest in taking over the helm at Ibrox.
