The search for the best Elvis in Edinburgh
Everybody loves Elvis. More than 30 years after his death, the legend continues to grow and his star burns brighter than ever. Forget the King of Pop - Elvis is the true monarch. He will always remain the undisputed King of Rock'n'Roll.
On Friday 28 August, Shawn Klush - officially the world's best Elvis tribute act - will appear live in concert at the Edinburgh Corn Exchange. To help mark the event, we're looking for the best Elvis in Edinburgh.
Backed by his band, The Fabulous Ambassadors, Shawn's performance will be the closest thing you'll ever see to Elvis himself. The resemblance is uncanny, his voice is perfect, and the mannerisms are spot-on. The whole show is as mesmerising and as thrilling as archive footage of the King himself - but this is real life, not a video screen.
Born and raised in the small coal-mining town of Pittston, Pennsylvania, USA, Shwan has won numerous awards for his Elvis act, including the BBC1 Saturday night entertainment show World's Greatest Elvis and the biggest prize of all - winning the first ever Ultimate Tribute Artist Contest, staged by Elvis Presley Enterprises, in Memphis, Tennessee.
So if Shawn Klush is the greatest Elvis in the world, who's the best Elvis in Edinburgh?
To mark Shawn's show at the Edinburgh Corn Exchange - his only date in Scotland - we want to find the Capital's number one Elvis impersonator. All you need to do is to capture your performance on video using a mobile phone or camcorder, and upload the footage to your favourite video sharing website, and send us the link to the clip so we can see it. For maximum impact, limit the length of your performance to around two minutes in duration.
The best performer judged by our panel will win tickets to the Corn Exchange event on Friday 28 August, and get to meet the star of the show himself, Shawn Klush.
Elvis Presley's countless hits are among the most popular songs at karaoke nights. If you've wowed the regulars at your local with your performance, you could be in with a shout here. Someone has to win. Why shouldn't it be you?
So, can you give Shawn a run for his Elvis dollars? Capture it on camera, then
click here to e-mail us a link to your video clip so we can see the proof.
