The wacky SuBo gifts all present and correct
SHE has undoubtedly been one of the people of the year.
And the chances are when you open your presents tomorrow, her distinctive face will be on some of them.
Susan Boyle memorabilia has been big business this year, with a host of entrepreneurs cashing in on the West Lothian singing star.
Some of the more unusual items include edible SuBo cake decorations, "I Love Susan Boyle" pillowcases and $100 notes bearing the face of the now world-famous superstar.
Since SuBo mania started spreading throughout the world, budding entrepreneurs have been developing quirky – and some crazy – homemade items dedicated to the Britain's Got Talent sensation.
For sale on websites such as eBay and Gumtree, fans – and last-minute present buyers – have been snapping-up wacky goodies based on the singer.
Among the items changing hands in the run-up to Christmas were iron-on transfers for T-shirts and jeans, priced from 99p, handmade Christmas cards, also 99p, and pin badges priced from 25p. There was also handmade keyrings, mugs and fridge magnets up for grabs.
For those feeling more extravagant, there was the "I love Susan Boyle" pillowcase for 8.99, or boxer shorts adorned with her face for 6.99.
For those looking for the finishing touch to their Christmas cake or batch of mince pies, there was even a dessert topper.
Packets of 20 rice paper cake toppers were selling well for just 1.99.
Fans could also send e-cards to their loved ones.
One eBay seller, known as Jenny88, said she had been making homemade SuBo keyrings for a couple of months, and had been a festive hit.
She said: "I've sold about 20 keyrings, and sales picked up this month. As you can see if you look on the website, a lot of people are buying homemade items. Quirky things such as the cake toppers tend to be popular because it means you can get a loved one something unique for Christmas."
Shoppers have also been shelling out for the singer's debut album, I Dreamed A Dream, which is now poised to become the biggest-selling album of 2009. The CD has sold more than 1.4 million copies. Meanwhile, the singer's first ever recording, a version of Cry Me A River, on the Music for Millennium Celebration, Sounds of West Lothian CD, has been attracting lots of interest online, and is available for an average 150.
The singer's own Christmas present came early when her Britain's Got Talent video clip was named the most watched video on the YouTube website in 2009.
More than 120 million people – twice the population of the United Kingdom – clicked online to watch her first audition on the hit reality TV show.
